Today we accomplished a lot of work. We finished the Great Plains section of our Native American CHANGES books and continued work on our Dream Catcher writing. We enjoyed seeing the many types of families presented in the family photography exhibit. The kids enjoyed seeing faculty members and even second grade friends in the photos. The students took an empathetic look at what some of the families were experiencing such as hair loss due to cancer, the struggles of a family living with mental illness, a child who ate different foods than other children at school, and a son who lives with his mother on the weekends since she has become ill. Please continue these great conversations with your child at home as the year progresses. Kindness, empathy, struggle, individuality...the list goes on. You've done a wonderful job so far. Keep it going.
